Baseball Games Return as Ontario Continues to Reopen
Yesterday, the province of Ontario announced that Step 2 of the reopening plan would be moved up to Wednesday, June 30th.  After a long wait, this means that outdoor baseball games are finally going to be allowed in the PBLO.  There is no restriction on league size — meaning teams will be able to play each other freely without a period of quarantine.

In their statement, the Ontario Government listed some requirements and limitations for games to resume:

  • Outdoor sports without contact or modified to avoid contact, with no specified limit on the number of people or teams participating, with restrictions;

  • Outdoor sport facilities with spectators permitted at 25 percent  capacity;

  • The facility must actively screen individuals who participate in team sports before they enter the facility.

As mentioned, players and coaches must be pre-screened prior to play, as well as attendance tracking must be done before every event.

Previous COVID-19 safety precautions must also remain in effect in-game, such as social distancing for spectators and players whenever possible.  You can read the extended Return to Sport document from Baseball Ontario here.
